All the early info and rumors on the most anticipated video game in the world
Development on the sixth GTA began even before Grand Theft Auto 5 was released. Production started in 2015, though six years on, Rockstar has yet to officially announce the latest entry of its peerlessly popular open world series.
According to Call of Duty leaker Tom Henderson, GTA 6 may feature both a male and female protagonist. Considering how well GTA 5's character-swapping worked, we're all for a return of multiple leads.
GTA 6 will definitely come to PS5 and Xbox Series X, but we can't see it hitting PS4 or Xbox One. Seeing as the last-gen consoles can barely run GTA 5 at 30fps, there's surely no way they could run a next-gen Grand Theft Auto.
Rockstar tends to announce GTAs two years before it releases them. GTA 4 was revealed May 2006 and launched April 2008, while GTA 5 was unveiled Oct 2011 and hit shelves Sep 2013. If GTA 6 is announced this year, we're probably looking at a 2023 release.
We've already seen the series play around with multiple states/cities/towns in a single game - see San Andreas or GTA 5's North Yankton prologue. Current rumors suggest GTA 6 is codenamed 'PROJECT AMERICAS', and will take place in both Vice City and a take on Rio de Janeiro.
An alleged GTA 6 leak from Reddit suggests the game has a drug empire-building system similar to the one in Vice City Stories. Think GTA Online's drug peddling missions, then dial it up to 10.
