The best Disney Plus movies to watch in 2021

From Toy Story to Star Wars, these are the finest films on Disney's streaming service

Recently subscribed to Disney Plus and wondering what to watch first? Here are our favorite movies on the House of Mouse's streaming platform...

BEAUTY & THE BEAST (1991)

This masterpiece is a wonderful example of what Disney does best: it uses modern technology and thinking to breathe sweepingly romantic life into an old folktale. A joy of a movie.

THE AVENGERS MOVIES (2012 – 2019)

Weaving together plotlines from every entry of the MCU, the Avengers movies act as the big cornerstones for Marvel's huge series. Infinity War and Endgame are both incredibly well done.

THE TOY STORY TRILOGY (1995-2010)

Pixar's classic trilogy is built upon an unusual premise with philosophical and moral underpinnings that adults can pore over and analyze to death.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC (1965)

It’s the unwavering sense of optimism that makes this musical sing, as best shown by “My Favourite Things”. They really don't make 'em like this anymore.

THE LION KING (1994)

Simba's tale of succession is often seen as the jewel in Disney's crown. Everything about it feels big: the stampede scene, James Earl Jones' voice, the themes of legacy and sacrifice. A masterpiece.

SOUL (2020)

Soul affirms Pixar’s ability to tackle life’s biggies with exquisite layers of depth, wit, and world-building detail, even as it upholds the studio’s reinvigorated mission to evolve at every turn.

STAR WARS – ORIGINAL TRILOGY (1977 – 1983)

From Han and Leia's "I know" exchange to Luke's thrilling duels with Darth Vader, the original Star Wars movies are timeless classics. Even the Ewoks can't spoil this epic sci-fi celebration.

THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL (1992)

Not just the best Muppets movie, but one of the greatest holiday movies ever made. It captures the inward sentiment of the original book while still throwing in plenty of irreverent humor.
